Photographs do not quite get it. In daylight it is a proper honey tan with some depth to it, not the flat orange you often get at this end of the market. Six months in it has started to darken around the edges where it is handled, which is exactly what I was hoping for.
Red stitching on the carbon effect is bolder than the leather version and I nearly bottled it. Glad I did not.
Which is the whole job. The finish is a touch plainer than the photographs suggest but I knew what I was ordering.
My previous winder turned on one plane and the watch was gaining. This reaches the rotor from every angle and it has settled to about a second a day. Same watch, same room, only the winder changed.

No fault in the build, which is good, and the winding has been faultless. The carbon finish is flatter and greyer than the listing photograph, which catches a highlight that mine does not. Next to gloss furniture it looks a little plain. Entirely a matter of taste and I have kept it.
Corners are tight, the lid sits flush, nothing creaks when you pick it up.

My larger watch would not have gone on a fixed cushion. Being able to take one out and drop the case straight in solved it.

My watch is 44mm on a rubber strap and it goes in, but you have to coil the strap deliberately rather than just dropping it in. Something on a bracelet would be tighter still. Fine, just not as effortless as I had pictured.

The workshop
Every winder is unboxed in our Sussex workshop, set to the direction and the number of turns your calibre asks for, then left running for forty-eight hours while somebody listens to it. Anything that hums, ticks or drifts goes back in the crate. The card in your box carries the initials of whoever signed yours off.
The people
