The Ashford is a single automatic watch winder that reproduces regular wrist movement while the watch is not being worn. Its rotation programmes are adjustable, allowing the winding cycle to be configured for the watch in use.
Wipe the exterior with a dry, soft cloth. No solvents and no leather feed — both do more harm than good on a coated finish. For the interior, lift the cushions out and use a soft brush rather than compressed air, which drives dust deeper into the lining. Nothing inside needs lubricating.
Two years on parts and labour from the day it arrives. Motor faults are replaced, not repaired at your cost. Cushions and adaptors are sold separately, so a worn part does not retire the whole unit.
30-day returns, gift-boxed as standard. Mon–Fri, 9–5, a person answers. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.
Where it shows
It ends up on the chest of drawers, not back in the box it arrived in.
Nothing wrong with the unit, it is quiet on wood. On the glass shelf I first put it on it transmitted a faint buzz through the whole thing. Moved it and the problem vanished entirely, so consider what you stand it on.
The winder itself is good and once it is set it just works. Getting there took me a while because the instructions list the settings without saying what turns per day each one actually gives you. I found the figures online in the end.
Ordered the dark finish and it is properly dark, almost espresso. Very pleased.
Bought early on and it has run more or less continuously since. No change in noise, no wobble developing. That is the only review that really counts with these.
My vintage Omega wants noticeably fewer turns than my modern one. Being able to give it exactly that is why this and not something fixed.
Steel bracelet, 41mm, sits square on it without needing to be unclasped.
Corners are tight, the lid sits flush, nothing creaks when you pick it up.
Function is fine, no argument, it winds accurately and quietly and I would rate that side of it five. The light wood option arrived a good deal warmer in tone than it appears on screen and next to oak furniture it looks orange. Entirely a finish issue rather than a fault, and the dark would have suited me better.
This was the whole reason I paid a bit more. My movement wants a lower turn count than most and being able to dial that in rather than hope has made a real difference to how it keeps time.
Runs outside the bedroom door and has never woken anyone.
I went back and forth over the three finishes for a week. The dark is what I would order again — it disappears against oak rather than competing with it.

More adjustable than the cheap ones, considerably less than the cabinets. For one watch that you actually care about, this is the sensible spot.
Which is the whole job. The finish is a touch plainer than the photographs suggest but I knew what I was ordering.
Fair questions
Fair. So here is the test, and it takes five seconds: look at where your watches will sit tonight. A drawer, a dish, the edge of a sink. If that is the answer, this replaces it. If they already live somewhere you chose on purpose, you probably don't need us — and we would rather say so now than take the order.

A single polish to lift drawer scratches costs more than the smallest case on this site. The maths only looks silly until something gets marked.
Possibly, right up until it is on the chest of drawers. What settles it is never the argument — it is the object. Something that reads as furniture rather than a gadget, holding things you already owned, in a room you both live in.
It stops being a purchase and starts being where the watches go.
The forums will tell you a stopped watch isn't damaged, and they are right. But that argument is about winders — nobody has ever been told off for keeping six watches from resting against each other.
The part that genuinely wears is the crown: the screw and the gasket you handle every time you reset it. Less handling, less wear. That is the whole case, and it doesn't need defending.
Buy one size up from where you are today. It costs a little more now and saves buying the whole thing again in eighteen months — which is the single most common regret people write to us about.

The workshop
Every winder is unboxed in our Sussex workshop, set to the direction and the number of turns your calibre asks for, then left running for forty-eight hours while somebody listens to it. Anything that hums, ticks or drifts goes back in the crate. The card in your box carries the initials of whoever signed yours off.
The people
